Dear postgrads,

The next meeting will take place on Friday, September 27th at 6:30 pm. We will meet at Zeltweg 18. We will have a evening with Dr. Christian Hofreiter, and he will talk about “Does God love your research more than you do? “

Hofreiter writes: “God loves the university. He loves academic research and
teaching. Therefore, it is imperative for Christians to leave behind the
„scandal of the evangelical mind“ (Noll) and develop a robust sense of
calling to „faithful presence“ (Hunter) in the academy. Drawing on
concrete examples, we will discuss what that might look like in practice.”

Who is Christian?

Christian quite likes the university: he has been a student at
6 universities in 4 countries, as well as a lecturer and a
research fellow. At Oxford, where he earned his doctorate in theology,
he served several years as chaplain, working closely not only with
postgraduate students from all over the world but also with early career
academics and senior faculty. Today he serves as Vienna-based Research
Fellow at the Oxford Centre for Christian Apologetics and frequently
addresses questions of culture, meaning, faith and science in
universities in Europe and beyond.
